Mai i Te Pō ki Te Ao Mārama | From Darkness into Light

15/07/2021, 5.30pm6.30pm

FREE

Kei Te Pai Press launches its 2021 “Re-imagining the future” journal, Mai i te pō ki te ao mārama at this year’s Puaka Matariki Festival, connecting the volume’s theme – from darkness into the light – to the season’s spirit of renewal and new beginnings.

Featuring some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading artists and writers, including award-winning essayist Anna Rankin (Ngāti Hūrai) and academic Hemi Hireme (Ngāti Awa, Te Arawa), this volume will also republish poetry from a leading 20th century takata Māori essayist, the late rakatira Arapera Blank (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu).

Join Kei Te Pai’s Morgan Godfery (Ngāti Awa) and Hana Pera Aoake (Ngāti Mahuta, Ngāti Hinerangi) for live readings and the screening of several short films from leading artists like Dan Sanders (Ngāti Hūrai).

Nau mai, haere mai!
