Matariki On Taieri

The Matariki Static Art Display is intended to represent the 9-star constellation of Matariki, the start of the Māori New Year.
The cluster of stars have cultural significance, providing all New Zealanders with the opportunity to remember those who had died since last Matariki and celebrate new beginnings, as well as being a period of reflection and regeneration.
This is a time to reflect on the past year, celebrate the present, and plan for the year ahead.
